Fatih Altaylı: Galatasaray should have joined the European League! 'They should have said we could be a part of this league'

Journalist Fatih Altaylı criticized Galatasaray's stance on the European Super League project following the European Court of Justice's ruling in support of it.

Altaylı stated that he did not find the Galatasaray management's firm stance of 'We will not take part in such an organization' to be correct, saying the following:

I approach the correctness of this decision with skepticism. Instead of saying a definitive 'no,' the club management could have adopted an approach like, 'We are monitoring developments and want it to be known that we will act according to the conditions. If the European league emerges as a healthy and reliable structure, we could, of course, be a part of this league to defeat non-Turkish teams in accordance with our club's founding goals.'"

Altaylı noted, "This type of flexibility could have increased Galatasaray's value and helped it join the ranks of billion-dollar teams. I also think the fans would prefer to join the European league rather than the local league, which is losing value and quality every day."

In his article, Altaylı also evaluated the European Court of Justice's decision regarding the European Super League case, stating that FIFA and UEFA rules do not include a requirement for prior approval of new projects and that these rules do not possess a transparent, objective, non-discriminatory, and proportionate structure.
