First assessment from TKP: Probability of early elections has increased

Noting that they received fewer votes than expected in Kadıköy, where Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu was the candidate, Okuyan emphasized that this situation should be evaluated in conjunction with the CHP's rise across Turkey. Okuyan's assessment is as follows:

“Considering the vote share CHP achieved, especially in metropolitan cities, it is not surprising that they won the municipality in Kadıköy with such a high number of votes. We will conduct an accounting of why we received such a low vote count in Kadıköy from our own perspective. 

A silent reaction emerged in these elections in Turkey. The economic situation, which has worsened since the last general elections, reveals that people have a very negative assessment of the AKP. We see that votes have consolidated around the major parties. We see that the CHP has perhaps received one of the highest vote shares in its history. 

'INTEREST ON THE STREET DID NOT REFLECT AT THE BALLOT BOX'

In Kadıköy, where the CHP has always had a significant voter base, votes shifted to the CHP. The general trend in Turkey was reflected here as well. We will not be content with this assessment. We will evaluate the reasons why we created such high expectations, why there was incredible interest in our work on the streets, and why we organized seriously during this process, yet it was not reflected at the ballot box in any way. 

We see that votes have generally consolidated around the CHP. For example, we see that the parties in the Table of Six have reached the point of disappearance.”

Noting that the emerging picture provides some clues about the relationship between the CHP and the left, Okuyan said, “The left gave an image of being too intertwined with the CHP. The TKP both fought against this and stood outside of it, and it will continue to do so. Since the left appears to be a sidekick to the CHP, the preference to 'then I will vote for the CHP' seems to have materialized.”

'WE WILL TALK A LOT ABOUT FOUR PEOPLE'

Stating that a comprehensive assessment will be shared with the public following the Central Committee meeting, Okuyan's general evaluation regarding the elections is as follows:

“Right now, we will talk a lot about 4 people in Turkey's upcoming period. Erdoğan has support above the AKP, but the tension within the AKP will increase. The importance of names like Hakan Fidan will increase. Perhaps the voices of the team within the AKP described as more pro-American, such as Numan Kurtulmuş, may be heard more. On the opposition front, İmamoğlu and Yavaş have gained very serious power. And now there is the CHP phenomenon. We say that parties are becoming unimportant and individuals are coming to the fore, but for the first time in a long time, there is a CHP that has achieved such a high vote share. We see that the CHP has collected a significant portion of the votes in the picture defined as the opposition in Turkey. 

'THIS RESULT WILL CREATE AN EARLY ELECTION AGENDA'

It can no longer be said that there are no elections in Turkey for 4-5 years. No matter what the AKP does, the probability of an early election in Turkey has increased significantly compared to the day before. It is very difficult for the AKP to pass the upcoming period comfortably with these votes. It has now become difficult to say that there is no election soon. This election result will create an early election agenda in Turkey. 

This picture is largely the success of Ekrem İmamoğlu and the CHP. We cannot explain the reasons for this solely with social reactions. A major campaign centered on İmamoğlu was conducted. We have said many times that there are large capital groups behind this. What we have said is true. İmamoğlu has emerged as a prominent leader in post-Erdoğan Turkey. The rise of İmamoğlu has raised the CHP. 

The decline of the AKP means that society has crossed a psychological threshold. But we can say that a new capital, a new imperialism project, is being implanted into society.”
