President Erdoğan had taken the side of the Court of Cassation in the crisis between the Constitutional Court (AYM) and the Court of Cassation, and signaled new legislation regarding the AYM. A response to Erdoğan's statements came from his former legal advisor, Prof. Dr. İzzet Özgenç.

In a letter he wrote to Erdoğan on social media, addressing him as "My Dear Elder Brother," Özgenç invited him to fulfill the duties assigned to the President by the Constitution. It was notable that Özgenç also used the term "Jackals" for the figures surrounding Erdoğan. The letter from Özgenç, who is also a full member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) under the Ministry of Industry and Technology, is as follows:

"Mr. President,

My Dear Elder Brother,

I am writing this letter to you as a person who served as your advisor in the field of Law for many years without holding an official title or possessing official status.

It is understood that the decision of the 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation regarding the 'non-compliance' with the 'violation of rights' and retrial decision issued by the Constitutional Court for a specific case was made with your knowledge, as well as that of the person sitting in the seat of the President of the Court of Cassation.

As a person whose lack of any situation requiring embarrassment due to the guidance provided within the framework of legal consultancy work has been revealed, my ability to present my thoughts on concrete legal issues to you in a timely manner and to provide guidance has been eliminated due to the 'jurist' pretenders—the JACKALS—who surround you and whom you keep around you. I do not consider this situation a deficiency for myself. However, as a brother of yours who has no expectation other than a return to the Rule of Law, and due to my concerns regarding the future of our society, of which I am a member, in the field of Law, I invite you to fulfill the duty of 'ensuring the regular and harmonious functioning of state organs' (Art. 104, para. 2) imposed on the President by the Constitution.

With my greetings, respect, and wishes for your health."
