"WE FELT THE FEAR TO OUR VERY BONES THAT NIGHT"
Tijen Karaş says that even years later, she cannot forget what she experienced during the July 15 coup attempt. Stating that she still encounters questions like "Was a gun really held to you?", Karaş said the following about what they went through that night:
"Absolutely! Yes, I read that declaration at gunpoint. I and everyone who was there felt the fear to our very bones that night."
"I WILL NOT FORGET IT FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE"
Karaş expressed the marks the coup attempt left on her with these words:
"I will not forget it for the rest of my life. My health suffered. I carried a heavy burden both mentally and physically. Thank God that those who caused that night were given heavy sentences. May they rot! May God never let this nation experience such a night again. I remember our martyrs with mercy."
Having undergone a major professional transformation, Karaş now leads a life away from the screens.
