İYİ Party MP Turhan Çömez continues to make calculations regarding the Rize-Artvin Airport. Çömez reminded that a guarantee of 3 million passengers per year was given for the newly built airport.

According to information obtained from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority at the end of October, 5,596 flights took place at Rize-Artvin Airport in 9 months, while 5,628 tons of luggage and cargo were transported.

Rize-Artvin Airport, Turkey's second airport built on reclaimed land from the sea, was used by 777,548 passengers in the January-September period of the year.

İYİ Party's Turhan Çömez made a post on his social media account regarding the Rize-Artvin Airport. Quoting his tweet from May 14, 2022, Çömez wrote:

"Erdoğan said; 'The planes are empty, fill them up,' but it didn't happen; 70% of the capacity remained empty. They opened a new airport an hour away from Trabzon Airport and calculated that 3 million passengers would come, but it didn't hold up. We said it wouldn't work 1.5 years ago, we talked about diplomas and such, but no one listened. For those wondering why everything is getting price hikes, take note..."

HAS BEEN WRITING SINCE 2022

Çömez's interest in the Rize-Artvin Airport has continued since 2022. On May 14, 2022, Çömez had also written the following:

"A guarantee of 3 million passengers per year has been given to Rize-Artvin Airport. Domestic flights are generally 120-seat planes and the occupancy rate is 70%. This means it was calculated that 98 planes would land per day. I wonder what kind of diploma those who made this calculation have?"
