Kemal Okuyan: I say this with shame. Akşener is right about the CHP

The 'dagger' debate between the CHP and the IYI Party continues. Former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had said in his speech on the day of the congress, "I entered the election with daggers in my back." A response to Kılıçdaroğlu came from IYI Party Chairwoman Meral Akşener.

In her speech at the group meeting, Akşener said, "If it is me, I have never stabbed anyone in the back until today." Pointing to her neck and heart, Akşener used the expression, "If deserved, I would strike the dagger either here or in the heart. I have always done it this way until today. I have no business with backstabbing." Akşener asked, "Now the real issue is this; if it is not me, whose dagger is it?"

Communist Party of Turkey General Secretary Kemal Okuyan evaluated Akşener's outburst on his social media account. Okuyan reminded that İmamoğlu, who was the driving force of the "change" in the CHP, was previously a "magnificent duo" with Akşener.

Kemal Okuyan's post is as follows:

“In her group speech, Meral Akşener trampled over the CHP management, politicians, and media organizations that had polished her for years, declared her the ‘queen of democracy,’ and marketed her as hope. While trampling, she said, ‘Yesterday’s KK supporters have become today’s rapid change-makers.’

I say this with shame, but Akşener is right. The changes in the CHP management do not concern us. Those who want to hope can hope. However, it is a scandal that those who played a leading role in the CHP’s attempt to market the Turkish right, Akşener, Babacan, and others to society are now blaming everything on KK.

Even more so, it is the fact that İmamoğlu, who was a ‘perfect duo’ with Akşener, is one of the driving forces of the ‘change’ in the CHP. It is clear that Akşener did not take the CHP’s so-called shift to the left with İmamoğlu and Özel seriously either; she kept mocking it. While we were fulfilling our own duties and responsibilities and trying to warn the public against this great trap, we have a long list of deputies and media members who said, ‘please don’t be too hard on Akşener or Babacan.’

Now they have all become change-makers. I am ashamed to say that someone like Akşener is ‘right.’ Fortunately, there is a consistent, revolutionary left, the communists, in Turkey who will stand against people like Akşener, who will not let her mock them, and to whom she will not be able to say ‘I was proven right.’”
