Naci Görür issues new warnings for 18 provinces

The 5.1 magnitude earthquake centered in Bursa on Monday morning brought the question "Will it trigger the major Marmara earthquake?" to everyone's mind. Following the earthquake, which was also felt in Istanbul, all eyes turned once again to experts on the subject.

HE COULD NOT HOLD BACK HIS TEARS

Geologist Naci Görür, who had previously issued many warnings regarding the devastating earthquakes on February 6, saw his statements about 18 provinces quickly become a major topic of discussion in Turkey. While issuing the warning, Görür recounted a phone call he received on the night of the earthquake and could not hold back his tears while describing those moments.

NEW STATEMENT FROM GÖRÜR

Making a statement on his social media account, Görür used the following expressions:

"Friends, the 'Provinces Living on Fault Lines' that I have been trying to explain on Kafa TV and the radio is essentially a report prepared by the Chamber of Geological Engineers of Turkey. These reports contain information that all our geologists have produced by working in the field for years. Our Chamber has prepared these reports and presented them to all authorities to ensure our people do not die in earthquakes, and has made the necessary warnings.

We are announcing these reports to the public to mobilize our authorities and create awareness among our people. We demand earthquake-resistant settlement areas from our administrators, with love..."

WHAT HAD HE SAID?

Eskişehir, Denizli, Muğla, Erzincan, Kayseri, Tokat, Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Kocaeli, Osmaniye, Bingöl, Konya, Erzurum, Aydın, Balıkesir, Burdur, Manisa, Hakkari... Warning about these 18 provinces, Görür had stated, "These provinces are living directly on a fault line. The fault lines beneath them are quite strong. And they have the capacity to generate earthquakes of 7 or greater in every city." Görür also added, "If an earthquake occurs there, the damage and loss will be abnormally high."
