Reserve area law under debate: Call from Mahruki to the opposition: It must be taken to the Constitutional Court
Amid the reserve area debates sparked by the new Urban Transformation Law, earthquake survivors living in Hatay have begun receiving SMS messages stating that their properties are being seized. AKUT Founding President Nasuh Mahruki emphasized that what is happening is an act of tyranny.

The first implementations of the controversial Reserve Area Law have begun in Hatay. It is alleged that SMS messages have started to be sent to those who have properties registered in their names in Samandağ, Hatay. A user named Pharmacist Timur Ranjous shared a screenshot of the received SMS on Twitter.
Quoting the post, AKUT Founding President Nasuh Mahruki called on the opposition to fight against the law. Describing the law as 'tyranny,' Mahruki wrote the following:
"This is a crime, it is illegal, it is unconstitutional, it is forced seizure, it is a crime against humanity, it is tyranny, and it must never be allowed. The opposition must take the matter to the Constitutional Court without further delay. The Union of Turkish Bar Associations must not be left alone. If we do not stop this arbitrary decision, which the government has enacted for its own pockets, in Hatay and Samandağ today, tomorrow none of us in Turkey will have any security regarding title deeds, housing, or ownership.
Turkish nation, the government is pushing its luck again with a 'let's see if it sticks' attitude; stop the government that wants to dispossess and impoverish us all, and never allow it to commit this crime. They will build luxury residences on the lands they stole from citizens under the guise of 'reserve areas' and sell them. They have always done so. Look at the state of the reserve area in Göktürk. Luxury residences are now rising on the 220,000-square-meter reserve area that AFAD officially declared as an Earthquake Assembly Area and which the Istanbul Governorship officially announced to the public. The same will happen to all the plots of land stolen from you, from us, and from all of us by being declared reserve areas; the government needs quick and large amounts of money. I say 'plot of land' because they are not interested in the buildings on them, only the land itself; the rent is in the land itself."
