Tantan to the government: If you are sincere in your struggle against Israel...

A group called 1000 for Palestine wanted to hold a protest in support of Palestine in front of Odakule yesterday. The police's harsh intervention against the group, which was demanding the termination of relations with Israel, drew significant public backlash. Former Minister of Interior Sadettin Tantan also criticized the government on his social media account.

Pointing out that the government has no initiatives at the action level against Israel, Tantan wrote the following:

"Contrary to the high-dose criticism the government has leveled against Israel at the rhetorical level, the fact that it has no initiatives at the action level constitutes a contradiction that requires explanation. Protesting Israel's massacres in Palestine is a natural right. Israel's massacre policy is met with reactions and protests around the world, and even within Israel itself. The right to protest and march is a fundamental Constitutional right. Inspector reports regarding what happened during the Israel protest in Taksim are important in terms of revealing the background. If the government is sincere in its struggle against Israel, it should normalize its relations with Syria, end trade with Israel, and take the necessary legal steps regarding the lands in the TRNC that are alleged to have been sold to the Chabad Organization. If these steps are not taken, none of the statements the government makes against Israel have any value."
