It has been learned that there will be new additions to the AKP at the Provincial Advisory Council meeting to be held in Ankara tomorrow.

According to the report by Melike Görür Demirkıran from CNN Türk, following developments in municipalities currently held by opposition parties, six mayors are expected to resign from their parties and join the ranks of the AKP. At the event, which will be held with the participation of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the new members will be pinned with AKP badges.

Among the names being discussed regarding the transfers are some district mayors in Ankara, as well as Nevşehir Mayor Rasim Arı, who was elected from the IYI Party.

WHO IS EXPECTED TO SWITCH IS BEING DISCUSSED IN POLITICAL CIRCLES

Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan, who left the CHP in February following tensions with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, is also expected to be among those joining the AKP. On the other hand, it is alleged that Rasim Arı, who was elected mayor in Nevşehir as the IYI Party candidate in the 2024 local elections, will submit his resignation to join the AKP during the mass transfer.

Regarding this participation, which has become one of the main agenda items of capital politics in recent days, it was previously claimed that four CHP mayors would switch to the AKP, but only Kalecik Mayor Satılmış Karakoç had denied these allegations.

At the ceremony to be held on Monday, Ankara Gölbaşı Mayor Yakup Odabaşı, Haymana Mayor Levent Koç, and Nallıhan Mayor Ertunç Güngör are also expected to resign from the CHP and join the AKP. Additionally, it is on the agenda that Çamlıdere Mayor Adem Ceylan will join the AKP by having his badge pinned during the same ceremony.
