Taking the floor for an off-agenda speech during the May 2025 session of the Üsküdar Municipal Council, Council Member Ekrem Baki announced that he had resigned from the AKP. In his speech, Baki shared the reasons for his departure from the party with the public.
According to the report by Engin Deniz İpek from Cumhuriyet, Baki stated that he "did not see any signs that the current situation would improve," and expressed that this situation was incompatible with his own understanding of law and politics.
CHP PIN ATTACHED
It has been learned that Ekrem Baki, who left the AKP, has joined the Republican People's Party (CHP). It was reported that Baki's transition to the CHP became official following the CHP Group Meeting held at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Council. The process was reportedly completed as of January.
MEMBER DISTRIBUTION IN ÜSKÜDAR MUNICIPAL COUNCIL
Following Ekrem Baki's party change, the distribution of members in the Üsküdar Municipal Council has also become clear. In the council, the CHP has 29 members, the MHP has 3, and the AKP has 14 members.
