Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, reacted to İYİ Party Chairwoman Meral Akşener's meeting with CHP Chairman Özgür Özeland issued an “alliance” call to Akşener.

Addressing Akşener on his social media account, Özdağ said, “Mr. Özel will invite you to the new alliance he has formed with the HDP. Ms. Akşener, at the point we have reached now, do not drag the sincere Turkish nationalists, Atatürkists, and patriots who have given their hearts to the İYİ Party into an alliance with the HDP once again.” he stated.

“Do not drag them into desperation against the People's Alliance either,” Özdağ said, adding the following:

“Let us break the current binary polarization by dismantling the AKP and CHP-centered political structure with the synergy that will be created by a large force of patriotic, Atatürkist, and Turkish nationalist voters that will form around a Victory Party-İYİ Party alliance, which will be established on the basis of an unwavering belief in the founding values of our Republic.” 

VICTORY PARTY OFFICIALS SPOKE

According to the report by Cumhuriyet; Speaking about Özdağ's call for an alliance, Victory Party officials "Currently, there is a Turkish nationalist electorate in the 30-35 percent band. This would create an environment that would save Turkish politics from a difficult process" they said.

Describing the call as "a move aimed at having Turkish nationalists open a third way" the officials added, "The country has been governed by administrators who are uncomfortable with saying they are Turkish. We are now saying let Turkish nationalists govern. We are sincere about the alliance. If MHP administrators also have the thought that 'Turkish nationalists should govern this country,' then the cadre to govern Turkey would be Turkish nationalists" they stated. 

The officials also stated that Özdağ had requested an appointment from Akşener regarding the alliance call.
