Following the Council of State's decision to overturn the Ministry of Interior's ruling that denied permission for an investigation into Melih Gökçek, the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has applied to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to have former Parliament Speaker Bülent Arınç testify. In a previous statement, Arınç had alleged that former Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Melih Gökçek had "sold off Ankara parcel by parcel."

Gökçek evaluated Bülent Arınç's statements, saying, "From time to time, someone presses a button somewhere, and Mr. Bülent speaks." However, stating that he would not enter into a debate on this issue, Gökçek remarked, "Bülent Arınç is a member of the AK Party, and I am a member of the AK Party. If I were to start a debate within the party, my President would be uncomfortable with this, and I do not see it as right for me to do so."

"NOT EVEN A SINGLE PROSECUTOR HAS TAKEN MY STATEMENT"

Bülent Arınç, on the other hand, expressed that despite 10 years having passed since his statement that Gökçek "sold off Ankara parcel by parcel," no judicial steps had been taken. He categorically denied claims circulating on social media that he had been "called to testify but did not go," stating, "Not a single prosecutor has called me. If I am called, I am ready to tell what I know."

ARINÇ TO BE A WITNESS

Following the Council of State's decision, the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has applied to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office with a request for Bülent Arınç to be heard as a witness regarding Melih Gökçek.
