ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who was re-nominated by the CHP in Ankara for the March 31 local elections, achieved a historic margin over People's Alliance candidate Turgut Altınok.
Yavaş, who received 60.44 percent of the votes, received his certificate of election today.
Speaking at the certificate ceremony, Yavaş said the following:
"We have received our certificate today. I thank the people of Ankara. I thank everyone who put in the effort and the residents of Ankara who supported us with their votes. I had stated that continuing social municipalism means that projects made of asphalt and concrete are not what municipalism is about.
Ankara has expressed its trust with a high vote. We will serve the people of Ankara. Together with our newly elected mayors, our main goal will be to make Ankara a capital city that competes with world capitals, in the way that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk entrusted to us."
