Abdulkadir Selvi targets Ümit Özdağ: 'He is rehearsing for a civil war'

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, in his article titled "Historic warnings from Erdoğan," drew attention to the messages delivered by President and AKP Chairman Erdoğan regarding Israel's attacks on Lebanon during his speech at the opening of the new legislative year of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, and noted the following:

'ÜMİT ÖZDAĞ AND HIS ACTIVITIES ARE VERY DANGEROUS'

"From now on, we will hear the warning about the internal front more often. Because what happened to Iran, which did not keep its internal front strong, is clear. The President was eliminated in a helicopter crash. Ismail Haniyeh, who was kept in a safe house, was killed as a result of an assassination carried out in Tehran. It is said that Israel identified the location of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah by following an Iranian agent. It was the generals beside Saddam Hussein who sold him out to the US.

Because of these realities, President Erdoğan said, 'As a nation, as 85 million, we are striving to keep our internal front strong against attempts at sedition.'"

Pointing to Victory Party leader Ümit Özdağ, Selvi claimed, “Because of these realities, the activities of Ümit Özdağ and those with that mentality, which amount to a rehearsal for civil war, are very dangerous. They are carrying out a full-blown fifth-column activity. They have become a national security issue.”

Reminding readers of President Erdoğan’s words, “Politics cannot be done by making Turkey lose,” Selvi stated, “Even if it were done in normal times, it should never be done in this period when the danger of war is knocking at our door.”
