Erdoğan's messages, delivered during his first group meeting following the terrorist organization PKK's decision to dissolve itself, drew attention.

''THE ERA OF TERROR HAS CLOSED''

"With the separatist organization's announcement of its own dissolution and the decision to surrender weapons, we have entered a new phase for a Turkey without terror. This phase is a phase of strengthening our unity, our togetherness, and our brotherhood. The Republic of Turkey has shown both friend and foe that it has the capacity to solve its own problems with the will of its own citizens. The inclusive stance displayed by our alliance partner, MHP Chairman Mr. Bahçeli, last October, has paved the way for the auspicious process that has reached today. The era of terror, weapons, violence, and illegality has now closed."

"During our terms as Prime Minister and President, we also sought ways to end the climate of terror for tens of thousands of our nation's children. Unfortunately, these efforts of ours were sabotaged by attacks. Over the course of more than 40 years, Turks, Kurds, and other segments of our nation have suffered. Terror has also dealt a heavy blow to our economy."

"With the decision it has taken, the organization has taken a step in line with the consensus for a common future. It is of vital importance that the Syrian and European branches of the organization also see these realities and join the process of dissolution and laying down arms. We desire for Turkey to be known not for terror, but for technology, culture, and art."

"I convey my gratitude to MHP Chairman Mr. Bahçeli, whose efforts in bringing our endeavor for a Turkey without terror to this point we know closely. I thank all politicians, including the late Sırrı Süreyya Önder, who provided great support to the process within the DEM Party, on behalf of my nation. We expect the sensible rhetoric to be maintained in the coming period as well. I also extend my appreciation to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and other political party leaders for their constructive stance during this process."

'WHETHER PROMISES ARE KEPT WILL BE MONITORED'

Once the organization fulfills its responsibilities, discussing, negotiating, and advancing the remaining issues will become the business of politics."

"Today, our country has become one of the centers of peace diplomacy. Turkey is undoubtedly one of the countries whose support, assistance, and mediation are sought in the resolution of regional and global crises.

This morning, we held a phone call with Mr. Trump, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, and Ahmed Shara. The underlying theme of this conversation was how we can make regional peace stronger. We have no goal other than peace, tranquility, democracy, and stability.

We are striving to achieve this with the diplomatic traffic that has become dizzying in recent days. I would like to thank Mr. Trump here again for announcing yesterday in Saudi Arabia that he would lift sanctions on Syria. I also trust in the support of my friend Trump in ending the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza. We hope to receive good news that will bring relief to hearts regarding Gaza as well."

''AUTHORITY SHARING IN MUNICIPALITIES MUST BE REVIEWED''

"Local administrative units are as important to us as central government institutions. When we say local administrations, the first thing that comes to mind is municipalities.

"It is understood that the work being done has exceeded the nature of organized crime related to corruption and extortion, reaching dimensions that threaten national security. The ongoing investigation in Istanbul is the most obvious example of this distorted picture and perhaps an example of a criminal organization unprecedented in the history of the Republic.

It has become inevitable that the issue of local governments and municipalities be discussed, debated, and reorganized in all its dimensions. There is a confusion of authority between metropolitan municipalities and districts. The sharing of authority in municipalities must be reviewed. There is a need for a new status for municipal administration."

"I believe that the practice of appointing trustees to municipalities will once again become an exception."
