As the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues, tensions in the region are also escalating.
Future Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu, who is conducting diplomatic efforts to help ease the ongoing tension, met with Carlos Martins Ceglia, the Ambassador of Brazil to Ankara—which currently holds the presidency of the United Nations Security Council—to discuss developments regarding Gaza.
In a press statement following the meeting, Davutoğlu said that the tension in the region is escalating further and that different countries are sending their ships to the Eastern Mediterranean, adding that a comprehensive, unified response is necessary.
Stating that the warnings issued by Devlet Bahçeli should also be evaluated from this perspective, Davutoğlu issued a call to Erdoğan.

"We are conducting diplomatic efforts to ensure a ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible. Furthermore, we have provided the Ambassador with a letter to be delivered to Brazilian President Lula da Silva, expressing our appreciation for Brazil's stance at the UN Security Council and containing our views on the resolution of the issue.
We need to be present at the ministerial level at the United Nations Security meeting. If the Chinese navy, the American navy, and the Russian and British navies have come to the Mediterranean, Turkey needs to engage in large-scale planning. I believe Mr. Bahçeli was referring to all of this.
We must forget our minor disagreements. I will request an appointment with Mr. Erdoğan; we can have all kinds of debates internally, but when the issue is Palestine, when the issue is Jerusalem, when the issue is Al-Aqsa Mosque, we are at a moment where internal disputes must end...
I hope Mr. Erdoğan will not withhold the hand he has extended to everyone else from a politician who has a group in parliament and with whom he has previously faced these issues together. Today is a day for dialogue and acting together.
Due to the military buildup in the Eastern Mediterranean, it is necessary to reach a national consensus and come together within a common framework, forgetting the differences in Turkey. Humanitarian law is not a matter of choice."
