Ahmet Hakan's 'trustee' question to the government: 'These questions must be answered'

The appointment of trustees, which began with the CHP-run Esenyurt Municipality and continued yesterday with the DEM Party-run municipalities of Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti, has become the center of the political agenda.

Hürriyet Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Ahmet Hakan directed "trustee" questions to the government.

'DID THE INVESTIGATIONS BEGIN BEFORE OR AFTER THE ELECTION?'

Hakan stated the following:

I am looking at the grounds for the appointment of trustees to the Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti municipalities.

The grounds are as follows:

AHMET TÜRK (Mardin Mayor)

Receiving a 10-year sentence for membership in an armed terrorist organization.

An ongoing trial for spreading propaganda for an armed terrorist organization.

An ongoing investigation for membership in an armed terrorist organization.

GÜLİSTAN SÖNÜK (Batman Mayor)

Receiving a 6-year, 3-month prison sentence for membership in an armed terrorist organization.

An ongoing investigation for spreading propaganda for an armed terrorist organization.

An ongoing investigation for membership in an armed terrorist organization.

MEHMET KARAYILAN (Halfeti Mayor)

Receiving a 6-year, 3-month, 15-day prison sentence for membership in an armed terrorist organization.

An ongoing investigation for membership in an armed terrorist organization.

Now let's come to the questions that need to be answered:

Were the sentences received by these three individuals handed down before or after the election? Did the investigations into these three individuals begin before or after the election?

If the answer to these questions is "before the election"...

ONE: Why did the state allow these three individuals to run as candidates?

TWO: Why were these three individuals nominated as candidates by their parties?

For the trustee debate to be conducted in a healthy manner, these questions must be answered.
