Surprise asset disclosure call for Akın Gürlek: 'Open your e-Devlet' demand from the MHP front!

As the allegations regarding property deeds involving Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek continue to be debated in politics, a notable statement has come from the MHP side. Yıldıray Çiçek stated that Gürlek should hold a comprehensive press conference and share all records with the public.

The controversy, which has become one of the prominent headlines on the political agenda, began with the statements made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel on March 17. Özel alleged that Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek possesses assets worth hundreds of millions of liras.

While Özel stated that he shared 12 separate title deed records he claimed belonged to Gürlek along with their identification (ID) numbers, Gürlek denied these allegations and only disclosed 4 title deed records to the public. Despite this, Özel continued to publish new documents and stated that he stands by his claims.

“E-DEVLET” CALL FROM ÖZEL

CHP leader Özgür Özel made a new call to Gürlek during the ongoing debate. Özel requested that Gürlek hold a press conference to open his e-Devlet account in front of the public and show his property buying and selling transactions in detail.

Özel also alleged that Gürlek disposed of the properties he owned in a short period of time.

NOTABLE MOVE FROM THE MHP FRONT

Following these developments, the MHP side also joined the debate. Yıldıray Çiçek, who is the press advisor to MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli as well as the managing editor and chief columnist of the Türkgün newspaper, made a call to Akın Gürlek in his column.

In his article published in Türkgün, Çiçek stated that Gürlek should hold a comprehensive press conference to explain his title deed records and e-Devlet data to the public in detail.

EMPHASIS ON “IT IS NECESSARY”

In his article, Yıldıray Çiçek used the phrases, “It is necessary for Akın Gürlek to hold a comprehensive press conference and inform the public in detail through his title deed records and e-Devlet data.”

In his article, Çiçek recalled that Özgür Özel had shared numerous title deed details he claimed belonged to Gürlek during the press conference he held, and subsequently published new documents. He stated that Gürlek had responded by disclosing his own title deed documents, but the debate continues.

In his column, Çiçek stated that public officials must clarify allegations in a way that leaves no doubt about them. He expressed that even the slightest suspicion in such debates remains on the public agenda for a long time.

He cited the title deed debates conducted against Turgut Altınok during the local election process as an example, noting that they affected the election atmosphere and caused the tide to turn in favor of Mansur Yavaş.

The article also included allegations that some individuals who queried Akın Gürlek’s title deed records were linked to the CHP and had been processed within the scope of the PKK and FETÖ investigations.

The relevant section of Yıldıray Çiçek's article is as follows:

"The former Chief Public Prosecutor of Istanbul is targeting the new Minister of Justice, Akın Gürlek.

Özgür Özel published many title deed record details that he claimed belonged to Akın Gürlek at the press conference he held. Subsequently, he published some more documents.

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek then published his own title deed documents. Despite this, Özgür Özel continues his allegations and accusations.

It is likely an example of political shamelessness and audacity that Özgür Özel never wonders how Ekrem İmamoğlu bought 50 million dollar villas for 15 million TL, yet accuses Akın Gürlek in this manner.

Of course, officials must clarify all allegations in front of the public in a way that leaves not a shred of doubt or suspicion upon them. Because in such events, even the smallest shadow becomes a subject of debate in the public conscience for a long time.

Indeed, the debates conducted over houses and title deeds regarding Turgut Altınok during the local election process seriously affected the election atmosphere and caused the tide to turn in favor of Mansur Yavaş.

Especially in a period when the economic crisis affects broad segments of society, the public response to such allegations becomes much more decisive.

In order for Özgür Özel’s title deed allegations against Akın Gürlek not to cast a shadow over the corruption and bribery case against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), it is necessary for Akın Gürlek to hold a comprehensive press conference and inform the public in detail through his title deed records and e-Devlet data.

Because it is alleged that a major game is being played. The allegations that some individuals who queried Akın Gürlek’s title deed records were linked to the CHP and had been processed within the scope of the PKK and FETÖ investigations lead to thoughts that infiltrations within state institutions continue and that these structures are trying to take advantage of every opportunity.

Akın Gürlek’s determined pursuit of corruption and bribery files, as well as terrorist organizations, primarily the PKK, FETÖ, and DHKP-C, has also increased the hostility directed toward him.

Especially with the İBB file, news reports emerged that he was being threatened through his family. Allegations that Ekrem İmamoğlu threatened Gürlek through his children were also reflected in the debates; this situation has been interpreted as an intensification of the attempts carried out against him.

Therefore, attacks, accusations, and slanders against Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, who fights with his life on the line, are very natural. However, it is the fundamental responsibility of Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, as a man of law, to provide comprehensive information that will completely eliminate Özgür Özel’s allegations.

Özgür Özel will certainly try every way and engage in all kinds of black propaganda to save Ekrem İmamoğlu. Because Ekrem İmamoğlu expects him to pay a debt. And he is already showing submission to Ekrem İmamoğlu with his soul and body.

Neither the İBB file should be overshadowed, nor should a shadow be cast upon Akın Gürlek’s legal professionalism. For this reason, everyone must fulfill their responsibility to ensure that truth, justice, and the law prevail.

Turkey’s agenda is truly exhausting. In a period when the expansion of war in our region is being discussed, it is of great importance to strengthen the psychology and sense of trust of society within the country.

A clean society and clean politics are the landscape that suits Turkey. The opposite landscape is the precursor to all kinds of chaos and turmoil."
