AKP candidate Mehmet Öntürk gives victory speech: Statement from Lütfü Savaş regarding the results in Hatay!

Lütfü Savaş, who entered the March 31, 2024 local elections as the Republican People's Party's (CHP) candidate for Hatay Metropolitan Mayor, came to the provincial election board to consult with party members.

Mayor Savaş, who finished the election in 2nd place according to unofficial results, made statements to members of the press.

Republican People's Party Hatay Provincial Chairman Hakan Tiryaki stated that according to the data they have, they are leading by a margin of 8 thousand votes, saying, "We are here again, just as we were on the night of the earthquake, sleepless. This time, we are here to protect the ballot box and the votes, which are the honor of our Hatay. There are huge differences between the data we received from many points and the data they have put out. According to our data and the data entered into the system by the YSK inside, we are leading by 8 thousand."

"WE WILL NOT LET THIS MATTER GO"

Stating that various incidents occurred during the transport of the votes, Mayor Savaş said, "For some reason, representatives of the ruling party appeared after 1:30 AM claiming they won. As far as we can see, there are 168 ballot boxes left and we are leading by 8 thousand and some change. We do not understand how they won; we will not let this matter go with all our friends and teams. We do not want to lose what we won at the ballot box in the courthouse or in the position before arriving at the courthouse. We will take this to the end. We have a lot of information that the incoming ballots were taken inside by various people, that they were taken from the hands of the ballot officials by people who appeared to be official, and that they were taken from a point far from the courthouse and brought in under the guise of being brought to the courthouse. We will not let this matter go."

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL: THIS IS A USURPATION OF NATIONAL WILL

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel also stated in a post on his X account regarding the election results in Hatay, "In the Hatay Metropolitan Municipality election, there is an irregularity, a usurpation of the national will, in which the Hatay Governor is directly involved. We have assigned a large number of our deputies; we will protect the will of the people of Hatay to the end."

On the other hand, People's Alliance Hatay Metropolitan Mayor Mehmet Öntürk addressed the party members gathered at the AKP Provincial Headquarters building, saying, "We set out as the People's Alliance. We embraced each other tightly and as a result, we succeeded. My dear friends, you know that we set out as the People's Alliance. As we embraced each other tightly, we succeeded as a result. From now on, we know the weight and responsibility of our duty. We will lift Hatay up again. I offer my thanks and respects to each and every one of you."
