It has been reported that AKP Bozcaada District Chair Burak Aktan has been dismissed from his post. The decision is reportedly linked to allegations that Aktan was secretly filmed drinking alcohol at a restaurant in Çanakkale and that this footage was forwarded to the AKP Headquarters.
According to Serkan İlik from BirGün, Aktan was filmed at the restaurant by a lawyer affiliated with the AKP. It is alleged that the footage in question was subsequently sent to the Headquarters and used as a basis for a complaint.
Reports in the local press also suggest that the footage, which is stated to have been taken while he was drinking rakı, was influential in the dismissal process. It is stated that Aktan has filed a criminal complaint through his lawyer due to the footage being secretly recorded and shared.
Following his dismissal, Aktan did not go into detail in a statement he made on his social media account. In his statement, he said, "Of course, there may be resentments, sorrows, and things left unsaid. However, when I look back today, my conscience is clear and my head is held high."
Burak Aktan had been reappointed as the AKP Bozcaada District Chair on May 19. Aktan had previously held the same position between 2017 and 2021.
It was reported that Aktan's name appeared as "AK Party District Chair" on the Bozcaada District Governorship protocol list, which was reportedly updated one day before the dismissal decision.
The development in Bozcaada has drawn attention as it coincides with a period when allegations of internal party strife within the AKP Çanakkale organization are on the agenda. In party circles, it is claimed that there is political tension between AKP Çanakkale Deputy Ayhan Gider and former AKP deputy and current Deputy Minister of Interior Bülent Turan.
