AKP had lost: YRP mayor puts the 'Mercedes' official vehicle used by the previous mayor up for sale

Selçuk Yıldız, the New Welfare Party (YRP) candidate who won the mayoral election in the Geyve district of Sakarya in the March 31 Local Elections, announced that they have put the 'Mercedes' brand official vehicle up for sale.

The New Welfare Party (YRP), which closed its doors to alliances with the AKP, became the third-largest party across Turkey in the March 31 Local Elections, receiving 6.19 percent of the vote.

YRP Chairman Fatih Erbakan, whose party won a total of 65 municipalities—including 1 metropolitan municipality, one province, 39 districts, and 24 towns—had instructed his mayors to hang the Prophet Muhammad’s hadith, “Both the one who takes a bribe and the one who gives it are cursed,” in their municipal buildings.

 

After taking office, Selçuk Yıldız, the YRP mayor who won the mayoral election in the Geyve district of Sakarya, announced that they have put the mayoral official vehicle up for sale.

Sharing a photo of the official vehicle on his social media account, Yıldız stated, "We had made a promise before the election; we said, 'We will end waste.' We are starting our cost-cutting measures in our municipality with the mayoral official vehicles. We have decided to sell the Mercedes brand passenger car that belongs to our municipal company. May it be auspicious..."
