AKP’s Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate is former Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum.
Kurum, whose candidacy was officially announced yesterday (January 7) at the Haliç Congress Center, has begun his election campaign.
Speaking in Istanbul's Fatih district, Kurum said they would not marginalize anyone.
Kurum's statements are as follows;
“We will protect the legacy of Fatih. Our friends in all districts will work with a sense of mobilization. We will govern with our 16 million Istanbulite brothers and sisters. We will embrace all our citizens in Istanbul. We will not marginalize anyone. We will carry out our historical restorations. We will take steps to eliminate Istanbul's earthquake risk. We will work until there is not a single risky structure left in Istanbul. We will carry out our work against earthquakes in 39 districts.
“WE WILL CONTINUE FROM WHERE TOPBAŞ LEFT OFF”
Today, we promised Sultan Mehmet Khan that we would be a mayor worthy of him. We will always continue to follow in Fatih's footsteps, on his blessed path. We will take back the flag left by our late brother Kadir Topbaş. We will hopefully carry that flag much higher. Our Istanbulite brothers and sisters will be proud to live in Istanbul. It will be an Istanbul where traffic chaos is resolved. They will live here in peace, with its green and its blue. We say Bismillah...”
