AKP's Metin Külünk makes 'fake poll' confession after elections

AKP member Metin Külünk claimed in his speech to Fatih Altaylı that fake polls were presented to AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan for the local elections.

Külünk alleged that certain figures within the party presented fake polls to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in order to ensure that their preferred candidates were nominated in the local elections.

"DO NOT PRESENT FAKE POLLS"

AKP member Metin Külünk stated in his speech, "I shouted at the top of my lungs: do not present fake polls to our President. Whichever polling companies in Ankara they were, they presented fake polls to our President so that they could get their own preferred candidates nominated. I know some of the provinces, but I will not name them."

WHAT HAPPENED?

In the AKP, which lost its title as the leading party in Turkey after 22 years to the CHP by receiving a total of 35.58 percent of the vote in the local elections, the nominated mayoral candidates had sparked major controversy.

Some segments found the mayoral candidates put forward by the AKP to be inadequate and attributed the AKP's loss in the election to this reason.

CHP BECAME THE LEADING PARTY

The CHP became the leading party in Turkey in the local elections by receiving 37.76 percent of the vote.
