Following the arrest and removal from office of Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu, the process to determine a new deputy mayor in the district has been completed. As a majority could not be reached in the first four rounds, the deputy mayor was determined by drawing lots.
Republican People's Party (CHP) candidate İbrahim Kahraman was elected as deputy mayor as a result of the draw.
However, this result drew a reaction from the AKP. The AKP announced that it plans to file a lawsuit to have the election result annulled.
