AKP's post-election admission regarding March 31! 'We had brilliant candidates, but...'

AKP Deputy Chairman, Head of Local Governments and Samsun MP Yusuf Ziya Yılmaz and AKP Deputy Head of Local Governments and Provincial Coordinator Selim Yağcı met at the AKP Bolu Provincial Headquarters for a meeting where the development of local governments and regional projects were discussed.

Expressing that they faced a decline in votes, AKP Deputy Chairman Yusuf Ziya Yılmaz said, "As you all know very well, as our local governments presidency, as a unit of our party where local government elections are organized in Turkey, we made a great effort during the March 31 election process. On the evening of March 31, we did not find what we hoped for. We could not achieve the election result we expected. We were expecting a better election result. Across our country, we faced a decline in votes, which we can take as a warning from our voters on certain issues or as an observation aimed at drawing our attention, as well as the increasing number of voters not participating in the election. I am in our Bolu today to emphasize that in the coming period, we will renew ourselves according to the values emerging from these election results, and even accelerate further, gather our energy, and take the instruction our nation gave us from the ballot box to heart, and run towards the future at full speed."

Stating that Bolu was also affected by the decline in votes across the country in the local elections, Yılmaz said, "In our Bolu, as a result, what we expected did not happen in this local election. We could not make the breakthrough we expected. We had a good candidate; Mr. Muhammet was our mayoral candidate here. We had brilliant mayoral candidates, but we had a decline in votes across the country. Bolu was affected by this in the same way."
