The issue of double salaries, which has been debated for many years under the AKP government, may become permanent through legislation.

According to a report by Erdoğan Süzer from Sözcü; thanks to the new law, bureaucrats or deputy ministers who are given a second position in the public sector will be paid a second income under names such as 'attendance fee, wage, or bonus' instead of a salary. This income will amount to 98 thousand 42 liras per month and 1 million 170 thousand liras per year.

ANNUAL INCOME WILL REACH 2.5 MILLION LIRAS

The day before yesterday, AKP deputies submitted an omnibus bill to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) that includes the double salary regulation. A high limit has also been set for the second income.

Accordingly, a bureaucrat appointed as a board member in a second public institution will earn an additional income of up to 98 thousand 42 liras per month and 1 million 170 thousand liras per year thanks to that position. Since the second income is indexed to the civil servant salary coefficient, it will increase every 6 months by the product of the number 108,000 and the coefficient, which is the same rate as the raise given to civil servants.

For example, when a general manager becomes a board member in their own institution or another institution, they will receive an attendance fee of up to 98 thousand 42 liras per month in addition to their 110 thousand lira general manager salary. Thanks to this double income, the general manager's monthly earnings will reach 208 thousand liras, and their annual income will reach approximately 2.5 million liras. If the same bureaucrat is appointed to 3-5 institutions, the income they earn from those will be transferred to the budget.
