AKP's Yücel Arzen calls on Sezen Aksu and Tarkan for 'framework law'

AKP İstanbul MP Yücel Arzen Hacıoğulları, in his speech at the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), made a call to artists ahead of the Bill on the Strengthening of National Solidarity and Social Integration, which is described as a "framework law."

It was stated that the deliberations on the bill are expected to begin tomorrow in the General Assembly, which continues its work under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker of Parliament Pervin Buldan. Arguing that Turkey is entering a new era, Arzen said that artists should also take on a role in this process.

In his speech, Arzen, who requested that messages of peace be conveyed through music and art, stated, "Tomorrow is the end of a century of solitude; tomorrow, Turkish and Kurdish brothers will embrace, just as they did a thousand years ago in Malazgirt. Folk songs and ballads should be sung, and zeybeks, halays, and horons should be danced to the sound of drums and pipes."

Addressing Sezen Aksu, Arzen said, "Come on, Sezen Aksu, come on, smile; look, that film has come to that city. Peace is at the door; the trick is not to keep peace waiting. This is the secret of peace."

Continuing his call to artists including Yılmaz Erdoğan, Kıraç, and Tarkan, Arzen said, "The book of Turkey, which Orhan Pamuk once read and changed his life, is now being written with colorful pens. Come on, Yılmaz Erdoğan, Kıraç, Tarkan, all the artists of this country, come on; today is the day, take your instruments in your hands and strike the strings like Ahmet Kaya, bam bam."

Arzen Hacıoğulları concluded his speech at the General Assembly with the words, "Some days history is not written, some days history is composed."
