AKP statement on minimum wage ahead of critical meeting!

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission will hold its second meeting today at 13:30.

As millions of employees turn their eyes and ears to the critical meeting, AKP Group Deputy Chairman Muhammet Emin Akbaşoğlu made statements regarding the minimum wage hike.

Stating that they have not allowed employees to be crushed by inflation to date and will not do so in the future, Akbaşoğlu noted that every effort is being made by stretching budget possibilities to increase purchasing power and raise living standards.

Akbaşoğlu said, "Regarding the minimum wage, we will not let our employees be crushed by inflation; we will put forward a figure that will increase purchasing power. As we enter 2024, we want to bring smiles to the faces of our employees. With the evaluation of the inflation rate that will emerge at the beginning of January, there will be a salary adjustment that will raise the living standards of our civil servants and retirees and increase their purchasing power."

Emphasizing that work is underway to reduce inflation to "single digits" through the Medium-Term Program, Akbaşoğlu stated that steps in the oil and natural gas fields have been accelerated and that the positive reflections of these on the budget will be felt.

"OUR GOAL TO INCREASE NATIONAL INCOME MUCH HIGHER IS IN EFFECT"

Muhammet Emin Akbaşoğlu stated that increasing the domestic production rate in natural gas and oil will ensure a reduction in the current account deficit, and spoke as follows:

"We established the Family and Youth Fund with the revenues we will obtain from there. First, a marriage loan of 150 thousand liras will be given to couples who will get married in our 11 provinces in the earthquake zone, to be paid back with 2 years of grace and 4 years interest-free. Revenues will accumulate in this fund, and we will provide this opportunity throughout Turkey, in all 81 provinces. Just as we will fulfill our election promises one by one from 2024 to 2028, our goal to increase per capita national income much higher is in effect. We will experience together a Turkey where inflation falls, investments increase along with production, exports increase with employment, a growth model based on current account surplus takes shape, and our citizens' welfare level is increased by realizing goals one by one."

Explaining that regulations aimed at the needs of society will come to the agenda in the Parliament in the new year as well, Akbaşoğlu said that there will be numerous studies on this subject.

Akbaşoğlu noted the following:

"2024 will also bring with it an atmosphere where a new constitution will be discussed and debated. The 1982 constitution has undergone numerous changes and has turned into a patchwork quilt. The 1982 constitution is a product of a coup. In the coming period, we must take a civil, libertarian, democratic, consistent, holistic, and pluralistic constitution onto our agenda in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), where representation is high, by coming together with all party groups, and fulfill the promises we made to society as representatives of the nation, in a way that we start and finish it ourselves with civil will."
