The People's Alliance's Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) mayoral candidate, AKP's Murat Kurum, attended the "New Turkey in the Horizon: Istanbul Meetings" program organized by the International Vuslat Platform, which is linked to Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü, known as 'Cübbeli Ahmet Hoca'.

ISTANBUL'S 'TRUE IDENTITY'

Claiming that he would 'stop the destruction in Istanbul,' Kurum stated, "With the intellectual accumulation, wisdom, and deep experience of you here today, and of the International Vuslat Platform, we will stop the destruction in this city and restore our Istanbul to its true identity."

ASSOCIATION-CÜBBELİ CONNECTION

The Vuslat Association, which Kurum visited, is known to be linked to Cübbeli. It was revealed in 2016 that the association had sponsorship and advertising agreements with Cübbeli's channel, Lalegül TV, and that 40 thousand liras per month, in the currency of that time, had been transferred to the association.

The association had also announced Cübbeli's 'sermons' at various times. This can also be seen in posts made from the Vuslat Association's Facebook account.

MONEY FLOW TO SECTS AND COMMUNITIES DURING THE AKP ERA

According to a report in BirGün, it was revealed that during the AKP era, approximately 3 million TL was paid from the IMM treasury to the Afiyet Hospital, which belongs to the İskenderpaşa Community, and the Emsey Hospital, which belongs to the Menzil Community. The IMM had also paid 14 million to Cübbeli's son-in-law.

During the AKP era, 2.81 million liras from the IMM treasury went to the İskenderpaşa Community, 82 thousand liras to the Menzil Community, and 14.37 million liras to Cübbeli's company.

The program was also attended by AKP Group Deputy Chairman Muhammet Emin Akbaşoğlu, Üsküdar Mayor Hilmi Türkmen, International Vuslat Platform President Hamza Cebeci, and the People's Alliance's Ataşehir mayoral candidate Mustafa Naim Yağcı.
