AKP's congress process begins in October: 'Turkey Meetings' to be held in 81 provinces

The ruling party AKP, which decided to hold its congress in October, will hold events in 81 provinces with the participation of members of parliament, ministers, and MKYK members as part of the "Turkey Meetings." 

AKP Deputy Chairman Erkan Kandemir provided information regarding the "Turkey Meetings" initiative, which begins simultaneously with his party's 8th Grand Ordinary Congress process.

Stating that while neighborhood delegate elections continue this month as part of the congress preparations, they will also conduct city visits with the participation of members of parliament, ministers, and Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK) members, Kandemir noted that this field work under the "Turkey Meetings" program will be carried out under the leadership of ministers and AKP deputy chairmen, with the participation of large groups of MPs.

Kandemir continued as follows:

"First, after consulting on the general situation of the city and holding a press conference, they will disperse throughout the city. We will conduct very intensive field work in September by reaching out to all segments of society, including retirees, young people, women, farmers, and civil society. We will go to the provinces not only with the deputies of those provinces, but with our entire staff, including former colleagues, active members of parliament, MKYK members, ministers, and MYK members. We will enter every cell of those provinces. In other words, while delegate elections continue in September, we will also be laying the groundwork for our congresses. We will take the political snapshot of the provinces and put it before us not from a single perspective, but from different perspectives; we will report it and present it. We will manage our congress process by looking at that report to some extent."

PROGRAM TO BE COMPLETED BY THE END OF THE MONTH

Stating that the work covering 81 provinces will be completed by the end of this month, Kandemir said, "With a very intensive 'Turkey Meetings' program and delegate elections in September, and by starting an inclusive, festive, and beautiful congress process throughout Turkey starting in October, we will have managed the process with intensive field work in the places where the congress is completed."

Providing information on the content of the "Turkey Meetings" program, Kandemir said:

"Let's say a large group of MPs will go to Malatya. Our friends will disperse to all districts of Malatya. They will both visit shopkeepers, reach out to civil society, and listen to professional groups. If that province is engaged in tobacco, for example, they will meet with tobacco producers. If it is engaged in grapes, they will meet with grape producers. They will carry out work in a way that touches all social segments, and then they will report this to us. We will then take a snapshot of these provinces based on these reports and determine our roadmap accordingly."
