AKP's poll for Istanbul revealed: 2 names stand out

There is less than 5 months left until the local elections on March 31, 2024. It has been learned that Bağcılar Mayor Abdullah Özdemir and MHP's Silivri Mayor Volkan Yılmaz have come to the fore in the public opinion polls conducted by the AKP for Istanbul as it begins its local election efforts.
According to the report in the Türkiye newspaper, known for its proximity to the government; it is stated in the lobbies that some of the 24 district mayors governed by the AKP in Istanbul may be replaced. It is considered certain that mayors who have completed 3 terms will be replaced.
There are no mayors serving a third term in metropolitan and provincial municipalities governed by the AKP across Turkey. However, there are names who have served as mayors for three terms or more in districts and towns. AKP officials point out that the possibility of applying the 3-term rule in the local elections is high.
On the other hand, it was stated that Bağcılar Mayor Abdullah Özdemir and MHP's Silivri Mayor Volkan Yılmaz emerged as the most successful mayors in the public opinion polls conducted by the AKP for Istanbul. Within the scope of the election cooperation between the AKP and the MHP in Istanbul, it is stated that the AKP will not field a candidate in Silivri, just as in 2019, and will go to the election with the MHP's candidate again.
