AKP's 'rise' poll does not change the Istanbul picture

At a program organized by the AKP Istanbul Provincial Presidency at the Bahçelievler Congress Center under the theme "Being One in Istanbul," the work carried out after the congress and current poll results were shared with the public. Speaking at the program, AKP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir announced the poll data regarding the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

"OUR VOTE SHARE HAS RISEN TO 41.7"

In his statement regarding the IMM poll, Abdullah Özdemir said that in a measurement taken one year after the elections, the AKP's vote share was 35.5 percent, and in the current poll, this rate has risen to 41.7 percent.

Özdemir stated, "In our IMM poll, while we were at 35.5 percent in the survey we conducted 1 year after the elections, we have risen to 41.7 percent as the AK Party alone in the current situation."

2024 IMM ELECTION RESULTS

In the 2024 local elections, the AKP's IMM mayoral candidate Murat Kurum received 39.59 percent of the vote. Ekrem İmamoğlu, who won the election, reached a vote share of 51.14 percent, achieving a margin of approximately 1 million votes.

The 41.7 percent rate in the announced current poll remained below the vote share İmamoğlu received in the 2024 elections.

Özdemir also announced the poll results regarding district municipalities. Accordingly, while the average vote for district municipalities in the 2024 local elections was 46.1 percent, this rate was measured at 44.6 percent last year. It was stated that a rate of 51.8 percent was reached for district municipalities in the newly conducted poll.

"WHEN WE TOOK OFFICE, THE VOTE SHARE WAS 32.6 PERCENT"

Continuing his speech, Özdemir shared data regarding the period when they took office, stating that excluding the People's Alliance partners, the AKP's vote share was 32.6 percent, and this rate has risen to 36.2 percent.

Özdemir claimed that the AKP would further increase its vote share as the economic recovery begins to show its effect in 2026.
