CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır made harsh statements after the TBMM Speaker's Office rejected the request by former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu to have his parliamentary immunity lifted. Responding to questions from Sözcü's İpek Özbey, Başarır described Süleyman Soylu as the darkest Interior Minister in the history of the Republic of Turkey.

Ali Mahir Başarır stated that Soylu is facing serious accusations, saying, "Süleyman Soylu is facing many serious accusations, ranging from links to criminal organizations to money laundering, corruption, and bribery allegations. However, no investigation has been opened against him. This situation shows that Soylu requested the lifting of his immunity just to put on a show. If he wants to be cleared of these allegations, he must accept the opening of a parliamentary inquiry. If he has the guts, he will do that."

'WE WATCHED A SOYLU SHOW'

Stating that Soylu's request to have his legislative immunity lifted was nothing more than a show, Başarır said, "This is nothing but a staged fight. The public watched a 'Soylu Show.' It is nothing more than a fake display of bravado."

'BAHÇELİ'S MESSAGES ARE A WARNING TO THE AKP'

Evaluating the December 17-25 message from MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, Başarır stated that Bahçeli was showing a trump card against the AKP with this message. "Bahçeli is reminding his alliance partner of the difficulties he experienced during that period and showing that he holds a trump card. However, the fact that these files are not opened and these allegations are not followed up shows that political interests are being prioritized over the country's interests," he said.

CALL FOR EARLY ELECTIONS

Addressing the messages from the ruling party stating that "there will be no early elections," Başarır called for early elections. Başarır said, "Early elections are inevitable. The public's struggle to make a living is immense. In the history of the Republic, there has always been a way out where these economic difficulties and this cost-of-living crisis exist. The way out is early elections and a CHP government."

SGK DEBTS ARE A LEGACY FROM THE AKP ERA

Ali Mahir Başarır stated that CHP-run municipalities are seeking solutions regarding their Social Security Institution (SGK) debts and noted the following:

"Most of these debts are a legacy from the AKP era. The AKP did not collect these debts during their own term, and now they aim to collect them because we have come to power at the local level. However, this is nothing more than an attempt to make CHP municipalities unable to function. It is not the municipalities that sank the country's economy, but Erdoğan's economic management."
