Ali Yerlikaya responds to the 'Süleyman Soylu era' question! What did he say about the operations?

DEVA Party Ankara Deputy İdris Şahin reminded Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya of the Süleyman Soylu era during the TBMM Planning and Budget Committee meeting on November 8.

According to the report in T24, Şahin asked Yerlikaya, "How and when did these gangs and organizations grow so much? On what dates did the investigations into these operations begin? Is it possible for you to share these dates with us?"

"DO YOU THINK THE CLOCK AND METER HAVE BEEN RESET AT THE MINISTRY?"

Şahin also brought up allegations that since taking office, Yerlikaya has been "cleansing" Soylu's staff and conducting operations against criminal organizations that had grown during the same period, asking, "There is an image as if the meter at the Ministry of Interior has been reset after the handover; do you think the clock and meter at the Ministry of Interior have been reset?"

YERLİKAYA'S RESPONSE

Minister Ali Yerlikaya responded to this question by providing information about the operations during the Soylu era.

Yerlikaya replied, "In the last five years (2018-2022), a total of 2,102 organized crime incidents occurred, with 27,186 suspects processed and 9,651 suspects arrested. As can be seen in general, operations are being carried out against organized crime organizations in a coordinated manner with all relevant institutions of our state in a way that ensures continuity. In line with the goal of 'entrenching peace,' which is one of the priorities of our Century of Turkey vision, operations against all crimes and criminals will continue without interruption."

YERLİKAYA'S 4-MONTH BALANCE SHEET CATCHES UP TO SOYLU'S ONE YEAR

According to the report prepared by the Department of Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime in 2021, when Soylu was Minister of Interior, operations were conducted against a total of 85 organized crime organizations within one year. In 2022, 2,703 people were detained and 840 people were arrested in operations against organized crime organizations.

In just the four-month period since Yerlikaya took office, operations were conducted against 38 criminal organizations. In these operations, 2,874 people were detained, 702 of whom were arrested. Judicial control decisions were issued for 594 of them.
