All eyes are on the 8th Ordinary Grand Congress of the AKP, which will take place on Sunday, February 23.

Invitations were not sent to only 3 parties for the congress.

While invitations were sent to the CHP, MHP, IYI Party, Great Unity Party (BBP), HÜDAPAR, New Welfare Party (YRP), DSP, Felicity Party (Saadet Party), and Patriotic Party (Vatan Party), no invitations were sent to the DEM Party, nor to the DEVA Party and Future Party (Gelecek Party), which were founded by former AKP members.

AKP Deputy Chairman for Organization Erkan Kandemir said the following regarding the congress:

“95 ambassadors from 88 countries and 28 political party representatives from 13 countries have sent feedback for participation. 127 domestic and foreign non-governmental organizations will attend our congress. Families of martyrs, veterans, and individuals with special needs and their representatives will be at our congress. We will see all the colors of Turkey represented.”

Responding to a question regarding the CHP's call for early elections, Kandemir stated, “If it enters the nation's agenda, it will enter our agenda; there is no such thing on the nation's agenda. We are looking ahead and focusing on our work.”
