Allegation that 'MHP will stage a provocation on July 1'

Lawyer Mehmet Taşdelen, a well-known figure in the nationalist community who has served as MHP Istanbul Provincial Deputy Chair and Deputy Chairman of the Idealist Hearths, has raised the allegation that the MHP will stage a provocation at the Sinan Ateş murder trial, which will be heard on Monday, July 1, 2024. 

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had announced that the MHP would be present at the July 1 hearing regarding the murder of former Idealist Hearths President Sinan Ateş, stating, "The MHP will definitely be present at the hearing of the aforementioned case to be held on July 1, 2024, and will settle scores with dark games and the extras of these games in the presence of the Turkish judiciary." 

Lawyer Mehmet Taşdelen stated on the "Kayıtdışı" program on the TELE1 channel, "I believe that as a result of the statements made by the MHP, there will be a mass gathering at the courthouse." 

'MHP ORGANIZATIONS WILL STAGE A MASS GATHERING'

Lawyer Taşdelen explained the information he received as follows:

"There is an allegation that a mass gathering will be organized with buses from MHP organizations and Idealist Hearths from provinces and districts. The Sincan Prison, where the trial will be held, is in an open area outside the city. The courtrooms were built right in front of it. You reach them by passing through two dirt roads. If these roads are filled with people, it will be impossible to reach the courtroom. If the Ankara Governorship gives some leeway to the gathered group, even the lawyers for the victims will not be able to enter the courtroom. Even Ayşe Ateş and Selma Ateş might not be able to go in. 

There are allegations that a few defendants will turn state's evidence. If a demonstration is stirred up outside, and if a few people from the MHP leadership go inside to the courtroom, those confessions might not happen. The defendants might gain confidence."

'ÖZGÜR ÖZEL SHOULD INCREASE HIS SECURITY'

Recalling the words of MHP Deputy Chairman Semih Yalçın, who targeted CHP leader Özgür Özel by saying, "If you continue to attack us without knowing your place, we will not hesitate to gladly teach you your place," Mehmet Taşdelen made the following call to CHP Chairman Özel:  

"A message that a provocation will be staged has also been given. That is what lies behind saying 'We will gladly teach you your place.' How will they teach him his place? By just using words? What Özgür Özel needs to do is increase his security. He should be in secure environments to avoid giving rise to a certain political crisis. He should not go to the Sincan trial walking around freely, but with more security. Yes, I think he should go to the trial, but by increasing his security."
