Allegations of salary without work in court: Özkan Yalım investigation into municipality in İzmir

The İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has announced that an investigation has been launched into an individual alleged to be connected to Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım.

CONNECTION TO ISTANBUL-BASED INVESTIGATION

It was stated that the investigation was initiated following allegations linked to Özkan Yalım, who was arrested and suspended from duty as part of a case conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office involving charges of "bribery," "extortion," and "rigging of tenders."

"SALARY WITHOUT WORK" ALLEGATION

According to the allegations, an individual claimed to be associated with Yalım was hired by Bornova Municipality and received a salary from the municipality despite not performing any actual duties. These allegations came to light through media reports and social media posts.

PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE: IDENTITY IDENTIFIED

In a statement issued by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that information and posts in open sources were accepted as a tip-off, and as a result of the work carried out, the identity of the person in question was determined. The statement said, "An investigation has been immediately launched against the individual named A.A., as well as the municipal officials connected to the matter, under the charges of 'qualified fraud to the detriment of public institutions and organizations' and 'forgery of official documents.'"

Commenting on the issue, Ömer Eşki stated, "I accept responsibility for the error. I will cover the public loss."
