Altercation at CHP-run Bandırma Municipality: Allegations that 'former district chair was punched'

It is alleged that a verbal argument between former CHP Bandırma District Chair Hüseyin Çeri, who wanted to visit Bandırma Mayor Dursun Mirza, and the mayor's secretary escalated into a scuffle after security guards intervened, resulting in Hüseyin Çeri being punched by a security guard.

Former CHP Bandırma District Chair Hüseyin Çeri went to the municipal building to visit Bandırma Mayor Dursun Mirza in his office.

According to reports by İHA; Hüseyin Çeri was told that he needed to wait for a while to meet with Dursun Mirza. Hüseyin Çeri then wanted to see Deputy Mayor Niyazi Yeloğlu, who was available at the time. As Hüseyin Çeri headed toward Niyazi Yeloğlu's office, he was blocked by the mayor's secretary.

VERBAL ARGUMENT BEGAN FIRST

It was stated to Hüseyin Çeri that he should wait in the waiting area and that entering the corridor where the offices of the mayor and his deputies are located was prohibited. Hüseyin Çeri stated that Niyazi Yeloğlu was available and that he wanted to meet with him. Following this, the secretary and Hüseyin Çeri began to argue verbally.

ALLEGATION THAT ÇERİ WAS PUNCHED

In the report conveyed by İHA, it was stated that Hüseyin Çeri complained, “We elected you, who are you to stop people from meeting?” It is alleged that one of the security guards who intervened after the argument punched Hüseyin Çeri.

Later, saying that he would call the police because he had been assaulted, Hüseyin Çeri was escorted out of the municipal building by security guards.

MAYOR SHARED THE VISIT ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Following the events, Bandırma Mayor Dursun Mirza called Hüseyin Çeri and invited him to his office. Dursun Mirza and Hüseyin Çeri held a meeting. Afterward, Bandırma Mayor Dursun Mirza shared a post on his social media account stating, “Our friend Hüseyin Çeri, one of our former district chairs, came to visit us. I thank him for his kind visit.”
