In the IYI Party, which decided to enter the local elections 'free and independent' by rejecting the CHP's cooperation offer, candidate determination efforts continue.
It is awaited with curiosity which names IYI Party leader Meral Akşener will field against IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu and ABB President Mansur Yavaş, whom she pointed to as Presidential candidates during the crisis process experienced at the Table of Six before the Presidential elections.
It has been claimed that the IYI Party, which was in search of an 'Idealist-origin candidate' for Ankara, has abandoned this formula and will turn to a well-known female candidate. For Istanbul, the search for an 'ambitious' candidate continues.
According to the report by Merve Kılıç from Cumhuriyet, the party management, which was working on an "Idealist" candidate to run against Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş and AKP candidate Turgut Altınok in Ankara, has abandoned this formula. Party members are working on a name recognized by Turkey who can receive votes from all segments and does not have a radical political view for Ankara. The party management also wants the Ankara candidate to be a "woman".
It was claimed that a high-level party official made the assessment, "The IYI Party may make a surprise. The CHP's closeness to the DEM Party and the poor candidates it has fielded may increase our votes. If our vote share increases, we will definitely be in power in 2028."
