Appeal filed against Murat Ongun's detention

Lawyers for Murat Ongun, an advisor to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Chairman of the Board of MEDYA A.Ş., who was arrested as part of an investigation into the IMM, have filed an appeal against their client's detention. The petition submitted to the Istanbul 5th Criminal Judgeship of Peace states that the allegations are not based on concrete evidence and that the arrest was made using evidence obtained unlawfully.

Furthermore, it was stated that the accusations based on secret witness testimonies have been refuted by HTS (historical traffic search) records, and that these records prove Ongun was not present at the locations mentioned.

The lawyers denied the allegations that Ongun and other arrested individuals held meetings at specific locations to make tender decisions.
