The "fund" allegations that have stirred debate within AKP circles have turned into a polemic between former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar and Ali Karahasanoğlu, a columnist for the pro-government newspaper Yeni Akit.
In an assessment shared on his social media account, Tayyar reacted to the explanation of the allegations through "foreign powers." In his post, Tayyar stated, "They say the US is behind the fund crisis, that Israel is behind it. That it's a coup plot against the government. Get over these, don't mock the intelligence of the nation."
Yeni Akit columnist Ali Karahasanoğlu responded to these remarks with an article titled, "So it's all 'allegedly' this and 'allegedly' that, is it, Şamil?" Criticizing Tayyar's tone, Karahasanoğlu argued that such an approach also meant mocking President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's "foreign powers" rhetoric.
"We are saying, 'A former AKP minister and her spouse must be held accountable'... Friends want more... Are you trying to topple Erdoğan while appearing to be on his side?"
SARCASTIC RESPONSE FROM TAYYAR
Following Karahasanoğlu's article, Şamil Tayyar made a new post on his social media account. In his response, Tayyar met the criticisms with sarcasm, saying, "Since the wise columnist of Akit, Ali Karahasanoğlu, has also entered the fray, I give up."
In his post, Tayyar stated, "The fund crisis is an operation triggered by foreign powers through the CIA and MOSSAD. Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya has nothing to do with the AK Party. Foreign powers carried out the 2.17 billion lira transaction without the lady's knowledge."
In the same post, Tayyar indicated that he was putting an end to the debate with the words, "The 217 suspects in the fund investigation were secretly brought into Turkey on the last night. I also thank the guiding wise columnist for enlightening the public. The matter is closed for me."
Thus, the debate that began over "fund" allegations has turned into a new polemic topic where mutual accusations and barbs between figures close to the AKP have come to the fore.
