The third general assembly meeting of the Assembly of People's Representatives of Turkey (THTM) was held in Ankara on Sunday, October 6. During the day-long meeting, the future of the struggle against NATO and imperialist war, the working processes of local assemblies, and new steps to be taken were evaluated.

WE WILL BRING THE PEOPLE'S AGENDA TO THE POLITICAL ARENA

The first session of the General Assembly began with an opening speech by THTM Executive Board spokesperson Oğuz Oyan. Oyan stated, "THTM was established to show society that there are real political alternatives and to bring the people's agenda to the political arena."

Following the speech, the *Step by Step to Independence* video, prepared after the "On Duty Against NATO and Imperialist War" march that started in Kartal on September 15 and ended at Incirlik Air Base on September 28, was screened.

This video will also be available to watch on the THTM YouTube channel starting October 7. The first session concluded with the unanimous approval of the motion regarding the admission of new members to the THTM.

THE STRUGGLE AGAINST NATO WILL CONTINUE

In the second session, it was emphasized that opposing NATO is not only a historical and conscientious responsibility but also a current necessity. The THTM reiterated its decision from the 2nd General Assembly to escalate the multifaceted struggle against NATO and imperialist war. It was stated that there would be a struggle against the NATO Summit planned to be held in Turkey in 2026, and that the efforts initiated in Ankara's Mamak district with the demand that "the street named Natoyolu should be renamed Independence Road" would continue.

Furthermore, it was decided to fight for the renaming of all public spaces such as avenues and streets in Turkey that bear the name NATO, and to monitor and expose the activities of NATO bases and the presence of foreign soldiers in Turkey. A motion to show solidarity with peoples exposed to Israeli terror was unanimously accepted.

ENLIGHTENMENT MOBILIZATION IS BEING ESCALATED

In the third session, the work within the scope of the Enlightenment Mobilization, which the THTM launched at its 2nd General Assembly, was evaluated. Assessments were made regarding the petition campaign and Enlightenment Seminars launched after the Declaration of Experts.

The protest against a religious sect dormitory carried out by the Çiğli Assembly of People's Representatives was also saluted.

It was announced that coordinated efforts with teachers and parents to protect children from mandatory religious classes and ÇEDES education would continue, the struggle against religious sect dormitories would persist, and relations with institutions would be strengthened.

In addition, the discussions on a new constitution were addressed, stating that "the AKP regime does not have the competence to draft a constitution," and a decision was made to announce this stance through a strong petition campaign. The Executive Board was tasked with carrying out this work.

LOCAL ASSEMBLIES ARE ON DUTY

In the fourth session, emphasis was placed on the duties of local assemblies to monitor and question the activities of local governments. It was decided to establish new local assemblies and expand existing efforts. Representatives from the Çiğli, Defne, and Çeşme Assemblies of People's Representatives, as well as representatives of the Kartal Assembly of People's Representatives to be established on October 12, also took the floor. Additionally, ongoing work in neighborhoods was evaluated.

The meeting ended with an emphasis on the determination to struggle. The Final Minutes and Decisions of the THTM 3rd General Assembly will be shared with the public in the coming days.
