The Supreme Election Council (YSK) has reached a decision on the YENİ Party's request to have a representative on the board. With this decision, former CHP YSK representative Mehmet Hadimi Yakupoğlu has been appointed as the YENİ Party representative.
Yakupoğlu had served as the CHP's YSK representative for 15 years. Yakupoğlu, who was removed from his post by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu during the nullity process, has returned to the board as the YENİ Party representative following the YSK's acceptance of the application.
It was reported that in its evaluation, the YSK expressed the view that the existence of the YENİ Party, which holds the position of the main opposition party in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), cannot be ignored.
YENİ Party leader Özel had previously announced that the AKP and CHP were opposed to his party having a representative at the YSK.
