Bahçeli had given Israel a 24-hour deadline: New 'Gaza' statement from MHP

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had previously issued a 24-hour "deadline" for a ceasefire regarding Israel's attacks targeting Gaza, stating that if a ceasefire could not be achieved, Turkey should 'intervene rapidly'. 

While Bahçeli's remarks were interpreted as "preparations for sending Turkish troops to Palestine," the MHP Headquarters has issued a new statement following these words.

"RESOLUTION OF THE PROBLEM IN AN INTEGRATED MANNER WITH THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY"

Habertürk TV presenter Mehmet Akif Ersoy stated that he was called by the MHP Headquarters and conveyed the statement with the following expressions:    

"Pointing to the points I conveyed on the broadcast yesterday, they stated that Mr. Bahçeli;

Expressed that Turkey is ready to contribute to the resolution of the problem in an integrated manner with the international community within the framework of Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's proposals in Cairo (guarantorship), that the civilian massacres in Gaza can never be considered as self-defense, that the US is acting irresponsibly and pouring gasoline on the fire, that initiative must be taken urgently for a ceasefire, peace talks, and a two-state solution, and that the President's efforts in this direction are strongly supported."

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli had made the following statement on his social media account yesterday regarding the attacks on Palestine:

“Our call as the Nationalist Movement Party is this: If a ceasefire is not achieved within 24 hours from today, if the attacks do not stop, and if bombs continue to be dropped on the oppressed, I am sharing this openly with my nation: Turkey must intervene rapidly and do whatever is required by its historical, humanitarian, and faith-based responsibilities. Undertaking the mission to protect and watch over Gaza is the legacy of our ancestors.”
