MHP Kocaeli Deputy Saffet Sancaklı had hosted the new management of the Kocaeli Journalists Association at the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
Answering journalists' questions about the local election process, Sancaklı made notable remarks, saying, “In the last local elections, they told us we would govern together.
But they did not give any of our friends a department head position in the Metropolitan Municipality or a deputy mayor position in the district municipalities. In Turkey, they did not give us a municipality only in Kocaeli.
In this term, we should be given a district municipality in Kocaeli, otherwise, there will be resentment in our party base.
The People's Alliance will lose at least 4-5 municipalities in Kocaeli. This time it will not go as they hope.” he had stated.
RESIGNATION REQUESTED
These statements by MHP Kocaeli Deputy Saffet Sancaklı were met with reaction within the MHP.
Bahçeli had used the expression regarding Sancaklı, "Does he want to continue the tradition of playing for the 3 big clubs in his football career in politics as well? The choice is his."
Shortly after this statement by MHP Chairman Bahçeli, MHP Deputy Chairman Semih Yalçın made a statement on his social media account and said, "Kocaeli Deputy Saffet Sancaklı has been asked to resign from the Nationalist Movement Party. It is respectfully announced to the public."
