Bahçeli's 100th-anniversary message: The Republic of Turkey, which Atatürk called his "greatest work," will continue its historical journey

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, in his message released for the 100th anniversary of the Republic, stated: “There is no doubt that the Republic of Turkey will be happy, successful, and triumphant; it will live and be kept alive forever. The Republic of Turkey, which the esteemed Atatürk called his ‘greatest work,’ will continue its historical journey in a stronger, more developed, and more flourishing state, and Turkey will leave its mark on the new century ahead.”

Bahçeli's message is as follows:

"We are observing the immense joy and exceptional value of reaching the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey with a well-deserved national pride.

The generation of the National Struggle, which accomplished great things in a short time under the leadership of the esteemed Atatürk, proclaimed the Republic of Turkey, founded on Turkish heroism and high Turkish culture, to the world exactly a century ago. The establishment of the Republic and its acquisition of institutional content is also the milestone of the transition of sovereignty directly to its true and original owner. When the past 100 years are carefully accounted for, it will be seen that the Republic has taken root in the collective conscience, both in terms of ideas and in terms of its regime and form of government. Indeed, the Republic has overcome difficult thresholds and passed tough tests with its principles and goals, and its ability to carry and ensure the desires and purposes of the people; it has added strength to its power, especially with the Presidential Government System. The Turkish nation's devotion to the honor of independence is a historical fact. The heroism and sacrifice shown during the National Struggle are the signs of this indisputable and indestructible national truth.

The source of the national will and consciousness that founded the Republic of Turkey is an unparalleled historical commitment to full independence. The founder of the Republic of Turkey, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, knew how to see the essence of life preserved in the conscience and soul of our nation, to bring it to light, and subsequently to make it the main idea of liberation. The Republic was born with the struggle and intervention of the people. Today, the people and the Republic have locked arms, and the roadmap for the Turkish and Turkey Century has been drawn.

There is no doubt that the Republic of Turkey will be happy, successful, and triumphant; it will live and be kept alive forever. The Republic of Turkey, which the esteemed Atatürk called his “greatest work,” will continue its historical journey in a stronger, more developed, and more flourishing state, and Turkey will leave its mark on the new century ahead. Sovereignty belongs to the nation, the nation is the government, and the Republic's administration will preserve its free and independent existence through the democratic system.

Furthermore, the Republic is the crowned state of the National Struggle, having established a throne in national hearts. It is the dignity of the acquittal and expression of our victories on the battlefields. To put it briefly, the Republic of Turkey is the honor of the Turkish nation. It should not be forgotten that the establishment of our Republic is an unparalleled example of faith in a nation's existence that was in despair, poverty, and despondency, and remained stagnant, and of how a result can be achieved from this dormant power through a method of struggle. The heroism of the Turkish nation in the past must surely be a source of inspiration for the oppressed societies living in our heartlands and cultural geographies, where imperialism has plagued and where they have been subjected to mass murders and atrocities inherent to it.

With these feelings and thoughts, I celebrate our Republic Day and the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey with admiration and feelings of respect, and I wish eternal happiness to our dear nation and state. I commemorate our first President, the founding leader of the Republic of Turkey, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his esteemed comrades-in-arms and fellow idealists, each of our founding heroes, and our dear martyrs and veterans with feelings of gratitude and appreciation, and I pray for God's mercy upon them.

With infinite loyalty, an indispensable oath, and never-ending determination, may the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey be auspicious."
