Bahçeli's 'Güneysu' gesture to Erdoğan: He did not accept those applications
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli has decided not to field a mayoral candidate in the Güneysu district of Rize, the "paternal home" of President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as a gesture. Bahçeli gave instructions not to accept any candidacy applications for the district.

As part of the preparations for the General Local Elections to be held on March 31, 2024, the mayoral candidacy application process, which began on November 13, ends today.
During the application process, Bahçeli instructed party members not to accept mayoral candidacy applications for the Güneysu district of Rize, which is Erdoğan's "paternal home."
In this context, the MHP, which did not accept applications for Güneysu, will not field a mayoral candidate from the district.
