It has been claimed that the IYI Party, which decided to enter the local elections "freely and independently," and the CHP could cooperate in two metropolitan cities.
It is alleged that during two meetings held between CHP leader Özgür Özel and IYI Party Chair Meral Akşener, Özel reminded Akşener of the "Balıkesir promise," to which Akşener replied, "I remember my promise."
Despite the strained relations between the two parties following the May elections due to rhetoric originating from the IYI Party, Özel recently paid a condolence visit to Akşener following the passing of her sister, Mualla Özen.

According to a report by Mustafa Bildircin from Birgün; it was reported that during the candidate determination session in the CHP, which began at 14:45 on February 12 and continued until the morning hours of February 13, CHP's Özgür Özel conveyed an important development regarding Balıkesir to the Party Assembly (PM) members. According to the information obtained, contacts are ongoing to ensure cooperation between the CHP and the IYI Party in two metropolitan cities. Among the claims is that Akşener requested support for the Ordu Metropolitan Municipality in exchange for the CHP's Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality candidate, Ahmet Akın, being supported.
Party sources stated that the IYI Party requested support in Ordu and the Susurluk district of Balıkesir in exchange for supporting the CHP candidate in Balıkesir. It was noted that both the CHP and IYI Party wings are warm to the idea of cooperation specifically in Ordu and Balıkesir, and that the possibility of cooperation in three electoral districts will be finalized by February 20.
IF AN AGREEMENT IS REACHED, TURHAN ÇÖMEZ'S CANDIDACY WILL BE WITHDRAWN
If an agreement is reached on the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, the candidacy of the IYI Party's Balıkesir candidate, MP Turhan Çömez, will be withdrawn. The IYI Party will support the CHP's candidate in Balıkesir. The CHP, which had announced the candidacies of Zekai Sana for Ordu and Hakan Yıldırım Semizel for the Susurluk district of Balıkesir, will withdraw these names and support the IYI Party's candidates in both electoral districts.
