Behind the scenes of the Erdoğan-Nureddin Nebati meeting: Is he becoming a minister again?

Journalist Nuray Babacan covered the surprise meeting that took place in recent days between AKP deputy and former Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati and President Tayyip Erdoğan in her column.

Babacan stated that following this meeting, the question of whether Nebati would return to a ministerial post has not been on the agenda within the ruling party.

THERE IS NO DISCUSSION WITHIN THE PARTY REGARDING NEBATI'S MINISTRY

Babacan wrote that the possibility of former Minister of Treasury and Finance Nurettin Nebati returning to politics and being appointed to a ministerial post is not being taken seriously by anyone. Stating that "Nebati's memory among party members is not very positive," Babacan noted that messages are frequently reiterated that "Mehmet Şimşek will continue in his post until the elections, provided there is no extraordinary situation."

It was also noted in the column that the meeting between Erdoğan and Nebati was about the economy, but that this carries no significance for the ruling party.

Babacan conveyed assessments that "the meeting was a friendly chat, and even if the economy was discussed, it was merely a routine evaluation and no more meaning should be derived from it."

ANOTHER CHANCE?

Although Nebati consulting President Erdoğan on economic management has raised speculation in some circles about him returning to a ministerial post, according to Babacan, it is understood that these discussions have not found much resonance within the ruling party.
